Digital platforms can be powerful tools for climate action when used with purpose, said Teeshtha Bhawsar, a BA Economics (Hons.) student at Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.

Speaking at the 2nd Yuva Sustainability Conference (Online) titled “Beyond COP30: Empowering Youth for Climate Action”, Teeshtha emphasised the role of social media in amplifying youth voices and turning awareness into measurable action. “Social media is my tool to turn climate awareness into action. I use it to amplify youth voices, highlight local climate challenges, and connect them with global goals as outlined in COP30,” she said.

Teeshtha highlighted that when youth leverage digital platforms strategically, they can bridge the gap between local climate realities and global climate commitments. By sharing stories, data, and initiatives online, young leaders can mobilise communities, inspire sustainable practices, and hold decision-makers accountable.

The conference was organised by Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability, a Sustainability Karma initiative, with Lok Samvad Sansthan as the implementation partner, in association with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Millia Islamia. The programme provided a platform for interns and young innovators to showcase how digital tools can catalyse climate action beyond COP30.
