Creating meaningful climate action requires translating global commitments into tangible local impact, said Zishan Saifi, a BCA student at CCS University Meerut.

Speaking at the 2nd Yuva Sustainability Conference (Online) titled “Beyond COP30: Empowering Youth for Climate Action”, Zishan highlighted how youth and women in his village are leading sustainable agriculture initiatives through kitchen gardens, composting, and eco-friendly farming practices. “Beyond COP30 is about creating local solutions to global problems. Our voices at the global stage matter only when we show real impact in our communities,” he said.

Zishan emphasised that local action and community-driven solutions are essential to achieving climate resilience. By empowering women and youth to lead sustainability efforts at the grassroots level, communities can demonstrate practical, scalable approaches that inspire broader policy and behavioural change.

The conference was organised by Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability, a Sustainability Karma initiative, with Lok Samvad Sansthan as the implementation partner, in association with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Millia Islamia. The event provided a platform for young leaders to showcase actionable climate solutions and highlight the power of local initiatives in shaping global outcomes.
