Climate change and public health are deeply interconnected, and addressing one without the other weakens long-term resilience, said Shubh Agarwal, CA Finalist at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Speaking at the 2nd Yuva Sustainability Conference (Online) titled “Beyond COP30: Empowering Youth for Climate Action”, Agarwal highlighted how youth-led initiatives in cities like Ahmedabad are demonstrating practical, community-driven climate solutions. “Climate change and public health are inseparable. In Ahmedabad, we are transforming urban waste into resources, building resilient communities, and training citizens to act,” he said.

Shubh emphasised that real leadership lies in taking initiative rather than waiting for institutional direction. He stressed the importance of sharing scalable solutions openly, inspiring global collaboration, and showcasing how youth-led innovation can deliver sustainable outcomes. “True leadership isn’t waiting for others, it’s sharing solutions, inspiring action, and proving that youth-led innovation can shape a sustainable, self-reliant future,” he added.

The conference was organised by Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability, a Sustainability Karma initiative, with Lok Samvad Sansthan as the implementation partner, in association with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Millia Islamia. The programme aimed to equip young professionals and students with interdisciplinary perspectives on sustainability and climate leadership.
