Formal education in mass communication is no longer essential for acquiring strong storytelling skills. Motivation and curiosity are the most important prerequisites in today’s digital age. Students today have access to a wide range of easily available resources, including youtube channels, podcasts, and theatre-based learning such as plays, which can help them understand narrative structure and audience engagement. The key lies in effectively using these widely available platforms to bridge skill gaps through continuous practice. With genuine interest and the willingness to learn, anyone can develop storytelling abilities regardless of their academic background or discipline, said Prof (Dr) Simmi Gurwara, Dean, School of Humanities & Mass Com, IIMT University.
