Voices of Bharat: Youth for Sustainability seeks to raise environmental awareness and drive climate action across India

While launching the official newsletter for the upcoming inaugural Yuva Sustainability Conference, themed Sustainability Storytelling for Green India: A Movement to Empower Youth scheduled to be held on 21 July 2025 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Sanjay Sharma, Rajasthan’s Minister for Environment and Forest (Independent Charge), emphasised the crucial role of youth in shaping the nation’s future.
Highlighting the importance of platforms that channel their creativity, energy, and commitment towards environmental protection, he said, “Together, let’s empower young changemakers and build a greener India.”
The conference will be organised under the aegis of Voices of Bharat: Youth for Sustainability, a nationwide initiative aimed at equipping students with storytelling skills to raise awareness and inspire climate action, the conference
Led by Sustainability Karma with Jaipur-based NGO Lok Samvad Sansthan as the implementation partner, the Voices of Bharat: Youth for Sustainability initiative plans to engage students from colleges and universities across India to create environmental awareness and catalyse climate action. It aligns with India’s key environmental commitments such as Mission LiFE, the Panchamrit targets, Net Zero goals, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Rajiv Tikoo, Consulting Editor of Sustainability Karma, pointed out that the programme aims to empower young people to become effective storytellers who can influence public attitudes, spark conversations, and drive action at the grassroots level.
Kalyan Singh Kothari, Secretary of Lok Samvad Sansthan, stressed the importance of sensitising and enabling millions of youth to contribute responsibly to sustainable development.
By fostering climate awareness among young people, the initiative hopes to encourage behavioural changes that support ecosystem health, improve public well-being, and influence policy evolution, ultimately building momentum for a sustainable future.
Apart from Shri Sanjay Sharma, Minister for Environment and Forest, the conference will have speakers like Rajasthan’s Minister for Women and Child Development, Dr Manju Baghmar and celebrated water conservationist Rajendra Singh, a Ramon Magsaysay Awardee. Delegates will include students from universities and colleges across Rajasthan.
