What if the stories young people tell could shape the future of our planet? That question was at the heart of a pioneering conference held under the campaign “Sustainability Storytelling for Green India: A Movement to Empower Youth.” The event formed a key part of the national initiative Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability, launched by New Delhi-based Sustainability Karma and implemented on the ground by Jaipur’s Lok Samvad Sansthan (LSS) in collaboration with Kanoria P.G. Mahila Mahavidyalaya.

This unique initiative is rapidly emerging as a dynamic platform to equip young people with the skills and confidence to use storytelling as a tool for environmental change. With climate consciousness growing and the need for action more urgent than ever, the campaign is giving students a way to connect, inspire, and mobilise their communities around sustainability. From compelling personal narratives to community-driven action stories, the youth are being trained to use their voice as a force for transformation.

Endorsed by top leadership in Rajasthan, Voices of Bharat: Yuva for Sustainability has received enthusiastic support from Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, who officially launched the campaign on World Environment Day, June 5, 2025. Speaking at the launch, he emphasised the crucial role young people play in nation-building and climate action, stating that empowering them through platforms like this one is essential for shaping a sustainable future. The initiative also gained praise from Shri Sanjay Sharma, State Minister for Forest, Environment & Climate Change (Independent Charge), and Dr. Manju Baghmar, Minister of Women and Child Development, who both recognised its alignment with the state’s and nation’s environmental vision.

The movement taps into India’s larger climate and sustainability goals—ranging from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to national missions like LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), the Panchamrit commitments, and Net Zero targets. It doesn’t just raise awareness; it creates active participants in the climate dialogue. And by equipping youth with storytelling tools, the campaign ensures that the message of sustainability reaches not just policy halls, but every home, street, and village across India.
