Prof Archana Kumari’s contribution to sustainability is rooted in the belief that communication is fundamental to achieving meaningful and lasting development. Since 2006, she has taught Development Communication while integrating sustainability into teaching, research and community-based learning. Her academic leadership has enabled students to engage directly with rural communities, providing practical exposure to the social realities underpinning sustainable development.
During her appointments at the Central University of Jammu, the Central University of Kashmir and the Central University of Bihar, she promoted community-centred learning through village adoption programmes, field visits and participatory engagement. These initiatives encouraged students to apply academic knowledge to real-world development challenges while strengthening community participation.
Her work also extends to health communication, trauma literacy, media literacy and gender empowerment.
